![]() Genuine Ford Fluid VC-7-B Gold Concentrated Antifreeze/Coolant – 1 Gallonįor longer life coolant, this ethylene glycol based coolant is compatible with gasoline and diesel engines and can provide protection all year round. This antifreeze is also not for BMW cars. Best use for American cars, it is also compatible for all types of vehicles from motorcycles to motorized boat engines. Service life is also 5 years (150,000 miles).Īluminum engine blocks and cylinder heads basically require antifreeze that is specifically made for them to avoid corrosion and this product is made to work best on these parts. It can protect your engine and radiators even from extreme temperature while preventing the formation of rust and corrosion. Perfect for cars and light-duty trucks that have radiators made of aluminum. It is actually a 50/50 mix so you can use it instantly. This is an inorganic coolant and an essential antifreeze that was blended with premium long-lasting inhibitors to stop corrosion. Prestone AF850 Dex-Cool 50/50 Antifreeze – 1 Gallon Reviewers say this is actually a concentrated antifreeze which is not indicated on its label. It has a service life of five years or equivalent to 150,000 miles. This product follows an old formulation and still doing its job well. Included in the list of vehicles are ATVs, SUVs, sport and off-road motorcycles, scooters as well as marine personal crafts. Very safe and can be used on almost all types of vehicles including off-road vehicles particularly the GM, Ford and Chrysler models. With its ethylene glycol content that will handle the antifreeze and coolant protection, the low silicate content will also help in preventing corrosion and rust to your engines’ internal parts as well as to your radiator. In fact, it can provide protection up to -34 fahrenheit. This will surely give your engine and radiator the best protection against freezing. If you're REALLY struggling for money, just use distilled water as long as your system (radiator, radiator cap, hoses, pump, etc are working fine) until you get enough dough to buy some coolant or buy the cheapest coolant you find until you have the money and flush it all out and replace with the good stuff (HOAT).Zerex Original Green Antifreeze/ Coolant – 1 Gallon Personally, I'd use HOAT coolant if it were a family member's car. If you can't afford HOAT coolant, then g'head and get a universal coolant if you want. If you haven't already purchased the coolant, then just buy the correct coolant. As I said in my previous post, if you use some other type of coolant, it may not be any big disaster and you might be just fine. It's possible that the Japanese engineers want you to use HOAT coolant because they have decided that it's the best compound of chemicals/acids to work with the particular metals or materials in our cooling systems. I don't know why, I only know that's what they say works BEST in our Toyotas. The Japanese engineers wanted a coolant with phosphates, but not amines, silicates, borates, etc. If you are not on a budget, per se, but don't want to waste money either, I'd get the Beck/Arnley Red or the Pentofrost A1 red coolant (and distilled water). My recommendation is if you are on a budget to go to Pep Boys and get the $20 Recochem OEM concentrate and a gallon of distilled water (usually less than $1). ![]() BUT, others have had problems using the wrong coolant and others who use just water might forget and then the weather freezes and they are in trouble. Some folks even use plain distilled water (as long as the weather doesn't get near freezing). There are a lot of people who have never had a problem using the wrong kind of coolant. That being said, it's not that big of a deal. If you get concentrate make sure to dilute 50/50 with distilled water, not tap water. I don't know how much the pre-mix ones cost because I don't buy those normally. The Recochem is sold at PepBoys and the concentrate is $20 (cheapest I have found). Beck/Arnley concentrate and Pentofrost A1 are usually around $25 or $26. There are a few brands that are the exact same thing as the Toyota brand: Beck/Arnley Red concentrate or Pink pre-mix, Pentofrost A1 red concentrate, Aisin pink pre-mix, or Recochem "OEM Premium" red concentrate or pink pre-mix, among others. You do not need to pay so much money for this. This is otherwise known as a HOAT coolant (Hybrid Organic Acid Technology). The correct coolant is a phosphated OAT (Organic Acid Technology) coolant. Your question has answers that are all up to personal opinion and anecdotal experience, but I can help clear up the matter for you.
